Handling Information
Michael was born into a family that showed & bred Pekinese. When he was 8 they began showing & breeding Chow Chows. He showed his first dog when he was 5 years old and has been doing so ever since. He began handling full time in 1988 and today is a member of the Professional Handlers Association. He has trained and handled many breeds of dogs to Best In Shows and Top Ten placements in both breed and all-breed and has had the number one dog in competition in several breeds as well.
Linda bought her first Show dog in 1979. She met Michael in 1986 and they married and started the Dreamland prefix in 1988. Linda is also a member of the Professional Handlers Association and spends her time between traveling with Michael to shows and raising chows with the Dreamland name.
The training & showing of dogs involves boarding the dogs here at our kennel during the week in between shows and then traveling with them to various shows across the country. We attend an average of 130 shows a year and have attended shows from Washington to Florida, Canada to Mexico and even overseas in countries such as Brazil, Japan & Thailand. Our clients extend as far as our travels. The majority of our travels are accomplished in our custom-made truck and trailer. The dogs ride in air conditioned comfort in a state of the art interior built with the comfort and safety of the dogs in mind. There is room for up to 30 dogs of different breeds & sizes but we limit the number we take to each show so as to allow for personal care of each dog we carry. The trailer allows us to stay with the dogs at all times, even at the shows. We pride ourselves on the care and professionalism we give to our clients and their dogs.
Dreamland Kennel and Michael & Linda Brantley are well known and respected in the world of dog shows. Our list of clients, past and present, includes some of the top breeders in the fancy. The reputation for handling top dogs has built a demand for our services and a waiting list in some breeds. References are available upon request.
