The Tibetan Mastiff is an ancient Chinese breed bred as guardians of livestock and property. They are extremely intelligent, and extremely independant, capable of making their own decisions. They are a protector and they are a defender that takes their job seriously. They are gentle, loyal, fearless and capable of taking the initiative when the situation demands.
Please think carefully before you fall in love with a beautiful, adorable Tibetan Mastiff puppy. It is a highly intelligent animal that will bond very closely with you, but it will not be your obedient servant, and it will be convinced (perhaps correctly) that in most circumstances it knows better than you.
Before getting a TIbetan Mastiff, do your breed research. Though an ancient breed, it is relatively unknown by the general public. The American Tibetan Mastiff Association has terrific information about the breed.
